R.W. "Red" Covington, M.D.
Dr. Covington is originally from Alvord, Texas, and has been practicing orthopaedics for more than 30 years. Following an undergraduate degree from Baylor University, he earned his medical degree from Baylor University College of Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Covington went on to serve a year of post-graduate general surgery training at the Ben Taub General Hospital in Houston, Texas. After two years of general surgery at Dyess Air Force Base, he continued advanced training on his chosen specialty, orthopaedic surgery, as part of his three year residency at the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals.
As an orthopaedic surgeon, he takes pride in the focus Waco Bone & Joint places on treating a broad range of musculoskeletal diseases and conditions, including sports medicine injuries. Dr. Covington has been a team physician for Baylor University for more than 30 years and takes great pleasure in working with young athletes and helping them pull through their sports-related injuries.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Covington enjoys sports, working on his farm, and spending time with his family. Additionally, he takes an active role in the community and is involved in continuing medical education.
